JAMES GRACIA: BIO

James Gracia is a graduating senior at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, a
prestigious undergraduate conservatory, pursuing a BFA in Drama/Theater and has a
concentration in Game Design as well as Film/Television. James first became involved in
forensics in 8th grade and flourished throughout the entirety of his high school career.
During those four years, he became a four time NSDA national qualifier, a four
time TFA State Finalist, NIETOC Finalist, NSDA Semi-Finalist (2016), and was awarded the Samuel
French Award/Best Actor as well as the State Championship at the 2018 UIL One-Act State
Competition. James owes so much of his forensics success to all his coaches, teammates, and
family. It is because of them that he was able to obtain an acting degree and is now a working
actor out of New York City. He also has a great passion for teaching and has coached students
ranging from elementary(Pre-K) to high school(12th grade).
James: “My goal will be to help you form a relationship with your scripts in a way that you’ve
never experienced before. Your scripts should feel like your best friends. I believe that every
performer should have a process that helps facilitate consistent growth not only as a performer
but as a person. Oftentimes while I was in forensics there came a point where I felt like I’d hit a
brick wall. I didn’t know how to continue growing. So through a rigorous process-oriented
exploration I will share tools and techniques that I have put into practice for the past 4 years that
will help you identify with your script on a personal level so that you’ll not only never get bored of
your scripts, but you’ll actually learn a thing or two about yourself that will make you that much
more of a truthful and empowered performer.”
